Output Files¶
CosmicGrain writes ordinary GADGET snapshot and group-catalog products plus fields and diagnostics for enrichment, feedback, and PartType6 dust.
Snapshots¶
Snapshots may be split across MPI files. All pieces are required for a complete particle inventory. Preserve the header, parameters, and units along with particle data.
An evolved PartType6 population contains dynamical fields and dust properties including mass, grain radius, carbon fraction, temperature, source tag, formation time, and birth position. Star particles retain fields needed for delayed feedback, including stellar birth mass and feedback state.
Logs and diagnostics¶
Retain:
- the main stdout/stderr log;
- timing and memory summaries;
- restart-write messages;
[DUST_FLAGS]startup output;- feedback and dust diagnostics;
- FOF/SUBFIND logs; and
- global conservation-audit output.
Output cadence¶
Use an output list dense enough to resolve first star formation, early SNII/LRN enrichment, delayed AGB enrichment, and the redshifts required by the paper. More snapshots increase I/O and can trigger expensive halo finding when FOF/SUBFIND is coupled to the same cadence.
